P2 Hoverbike Test Flight

Our second generation Hoverbike in a unmanned static hover.

This vehicle is very capable of lifting a person of at least 100kg, however for safety and legal reasons we are testing this vehicle as a drone for the time being, as it makes do difference to the aircraft if it's lifting a human or dummy payload.

Welcome to Project Soli

Project Soli is developing a new interaction sensor using radar technology. The sensor can track sub-millimeter motions at high speed and accuracy. It fits onto a chip, can be produced at scale and built into small devices and everyday objects.

Project Tango: NASA SPHERES

roject Tango Prepping for Launch Into Space

Since the summer of 2013, the Project Tango team has been working closely with a team at the NASA Ames Research Center. The goal: to integrate a Project Tango prototype onto a robotic platform, called SPHERES, that flies inside the International Space Station. The SPHERES program aims to develop zero-gravity autonomous platforms that could act as robotic assistants for astronauts or perform maintenance activities independently on station. The 3D-tracking and mapping capabilities of Project Tango would allow SPHERES to reconstruct a 3D-map of the space station and, for the first time in history, enable autonomous navigation of a floating robotic platform 230 miles above the surface of the earth.

Project Tango and SPHERES are scheduled to be launched into orbit this summer. The future is awesome.

Welcome to Project Jacquard

Project Jacquard is a new system for weaving technology into fabric, transforming everyday objects, like clothes, into interactive surfaces. Project Jacquard will allow designers and developers to build connected, touch-sensitive textiles into their own products. This is just the beginning, and we're very excited to see what people will do with it.

MIT cheetah robot lands the running jump

In a leap for robotic development, the MIT researchers who built a robotic cheetah have now trained it to see and jump over hurdles as it runs — making this the first four-legged robot to run and jump over obstacles autonomously. (Learn more: http://bit.ly/1JYy1bD)

DART Air Data has Interplanetary Potential

When NASA prepares a spacecraft to fly to a faraway planet to hunt for signs of life, it's important not to inadvertently send microorganisms from Earth along on the journey. The Dust Atmospheric Recovery Technology, or DART, is a new innovation designed to collect airborne dusts, bacteria and fungi in the atmosphere that can be returned to the lab for analysis. The results will make it easier to predict levels of dust and microbial contamination on spacecraft surfaces during payload processing and when the spacecraft are on launch pads. This knowledge also could help bolster Florida’s agriculture industry against exotic, airborne pathogens.
